Polyfusion

WHAT IS POLYFUSION?

Polyfusion is a thermoplastic flame-spray coating system engineered by IBIX Industrial specifically for concrete and porous substrates. Based on an alloy of acid-modified polyolefins, it creates a fusion-bonded coating that becomes a permanent part of the substrate — not just a surface film.
The system is applied using IBIX’s proprietary flame spray equipment, which liquefies the thermoplastic powder and bonds it directly to the prepared concrete surface. The result is a seamless, waterproof membrane with outstanding chemical resistance and anti-slip properties.

Approved for contact with alcohol and wine, and certified to EN 13813, Polyfusion is trusted across food processing, water treatment, civil infrastructure and industrial sectors globally. Now, for the first time, it is available in Australia exclusively through Remcon Group.

01 — Fusion-bonded, not film-applied. Polyfusion chemically bonds to the substrate for a permanent protective layer that won’t peel, delaminate or fail.
02 — Anti-osmotic barrier. Prevents moisture ingress and protects against chemical attack, corrosion and typical airborne pollutants.

03 — Speed of application. Polyfusion can be applied rapidly in single or multiple coats, dramatically reducing downtime versus traditional coatings.

Key Performance Properties:

  • Chemical resistance — withstands aggressive acidic and alkaline agents, solvents and industrial cleaners
  • Anti-slip certified — tested to DIN 51130 for walkable and vehicle-accessible surfaces
  • Weather and UV resistant — designed for exposed external and coastal environments
  • Environmentally safe — no solvents, no VOCs, no hazardous off-gassing during or after application
  • Food & beverage approved — certified for contact with alcohol and wine; suitable for wineries, breweries and food plants
  • Multiple colour options — available in a standard range of colours for safety zoning and aesthetics

APPLICATIONS

From industrial floors to civil infrastructure, Polyfusion provides durable, compliant protection across a broad range of concrete environments.

Industrial Floors Factory floors, warehouses and distribution centres requiring chemical resistance and heavy-traffic durability.
Containment Bunds & Tanks Chemical containment bunds, water tanks and liquid storage where anti-osmotic impermeability is critical.
Carparks & Basements Waterproofing and protection for underground carparks, ramps and slab surfaces exposed to vehicle traffic and water.
Food & Beverage Facilities Floors and surfaces in wineries, breweries, food processing plants and commercial kitchens. Approved for food contact.
Water & Wastewater Treatment plants, pump stations and concrete channel linings subject to constant moisture and chemical exposure.
Civil & Infrastructure Bridges, retaining walls, tunnels and civil structures needing long-life surface protection in demanding environments.
Commercial & Retail Showrooms, shopping centres and public spaces where anti-slip safety, aesthetics and longevity all matter.
Mining & Resources Processing floors, settling ponds and equipment pads in extreme chemical and abrasive environments.

FAQ

Q: What is Polyfusion and how is it different from epoxy coatings? Polyfusion is a thermoplastic flame-spray system that fusion-bonds directly to the concrete substrate — it becomes part of the surface rather than sitting on top of it. Unlike epoxy coatings which can delaminate, yellow under UV and fail under chemical attack, Polyfusion offers superior adhesion, chemical resistance and long-term durability. It also carries no VOC emissions during application.

Q:How is Polyfusion applied? The concrete surface is first prepared — hollow spots repaired, surface sanded to a flat finish. A primer layer (Polyres N) is applied and allowed to reach a tacky state. The Polyfusion thermoplastic powder is then applied through IBIX’s flame spray system, which melts the powder and bonds it to the substrate. Multiple coats can be applied for additional thickness. Our teams are fully trained on the IBIX flame spray equipment.

Q: Is Polyfusion suitable for outdoor and coastal environments? Yes. Polyfusion is specifically designed to resist stress cracking, adverse weather conditions, salt, detergents and airborne pollutants — making it well suited to Australian coastal and industrial environments.

Q: Can Polyfusion be used in food and beverage facilities? Yes. Polyfusion is approved for contact with alcohol and wine, and is widely used in wineries, breweries and food processing facilities. Polyfusion AM (the antimicrobial variant) extends this further with 99.9999% bacterial reduction — ideal for food preparation, aged care and healthcare surfaces.

Q: Where can I buy or have Polyfusion applied in Australia? Remcon Group is the exclusive Australian distributor and certified applicator for IBIX Industrial’s Polyfusion system. Contact us on 1300 309 452 or complete the enquiry form on this page to arrange a site assessment and quote.

Q: What colours are available for Polyfusion? Polyfusion is available in a standard range of colours, allowing safety zoning, wayfinding and aesthetic customisation. Contact Remcon Group for the current colour palette and to discuss your project requirements.
